[Teams] West Ham vs Chelsea: Confirmed Line-ups

By on December 1, 2012

Chelsea make the short trip across London to face West Ham at Upton Park on Saturday lunchtime hoping for three points to close the gap on the top-two.

After successive home draws against Man City and Fulham, the Blues now trail league leaders Man Utd by seven points so victory today is vital if Chelsea are to maintain hopes of winning the title this season.

Interim boss Rafa Benitez is under increasing pressure and a win today would help endear himself to the Stamford Bridge faithful, who’ve been left unimpressed by his appointment following the sacking of Robert Di Matteo.

The Spaniard has stuck with under-fire striker Fernando Torres for the game but Victor Moses comes in for Oscar. Juan Mata is also recalled. Here are the confirmed line-ups for the game:

West Ham Team

Jaaskelainen, Reid, O’Brien, Collins, Demel, Nolan, Tomkins, Jarvis, Noble, O’Neil, Cole

Subs: Spiegel, Maiga, Taylor, Diame, Spence, Fanimo, Moncur

Chelsea Team

Cech, Azpilicueta, Ivanovic, Cahill, Cole, Ramires, Mikel, Moses, Mata, Hazard, Torres

Subs: Turnbull, Romeu, Oscar, Ferreira, Marin, Bertrand, Piazon.

The problem we are facing now is, who can convert goals. We have the players and the management, but we are in need of powerful strikers.

Di Mateo had nothing to do with building the squad. That was done by abramovich and his board. I am shocked and pleased to hear the blunt words of rafa about the thin nature of the squad. Clearest indication that the club is being run by “non-footbaling” minds. This is THE major problem along with the constant rotation at the top seat. Anyone noticed that Luiz Felipe Scolari who was not good enough for Chelsea will be at the helm affiars for brazil at the world cup?
