Man Utd Transfer News: One Out, Two In At Old Trafford?

By  Published: 13th December 2012

Despite the transfer window being closed, there is always transfer gossip doing the rounds in the papers and we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest news during the coming months. Today, United are linked with a double swoop if they manage to sell Nani.

Victor Wanyama

Manchester United are hoping to sell Nani and use the money raised to target James Rodriguez and Victor Wanyama, according to the Mirror.

The report claims Nani is expected to be sold following a series of fall-outs with Sir Alex Ferguson after refusing to sign a new contract at Old Trafford. The Mirror also claim that the 26-year-old came close to signing for Russian side Zenit St Petersburg and suggest Arsenal and Juventus have also been linked with £20m moves for the Portuguese winger.

Rumours of a move intensified after Nani was omitted form United’s 2013 calender and if Ferguson manages to offload the player, the Mirror claim he will use the money to fund moves for Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama – who Fergie is understood to have had scouted during Celtic’s win over Barcelona last month – and Porto winger James Rodriguez.

As I’ve said previously, I really can’t see Nani making a move to the Emirates. His wages are likely to be a major stumbling block for the Gunners so a potential move to Juventus would seem more likely. But if, as this report suggests, Ferguson is keen to sell I’m sure there will be no shortage of takers.

Nani is a talented player but is Rodriguez good enough to replace the former Sporting ace if he does leave? Rodriguez looks to have all the tricks but also has an end product to his game, scoring 6 goals in 8 games for Porto so far this season, so could be another astute buy from United if they do snap him up.

Wanyama also looks like a real player. He’s powerful and hard-working, and could be the ball-winner United have been looking for in recent seasons.

Saf won’t be anyone in January, he rarely does. He may get rid of nani though as he’s so inconsistent.
