Manchester United began their season with a comfortable 3-0 victory over newly promoted Newcastle United at Old Trafford.
First half goals from Dimitar Berbatov and Darren Fletcher put United 2-0 up at the break before golden-oldies Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs combined for the third, MOM Scholes found the Welshman in the area with a superb pass that was dispatched on the volley by the evergreen Giggs.
