Arsenal Confirm Wilshere & Chamberlain Among 5 To Sign New Deals
Finally some positive news for Arsenal fans on the contract front, as Arsenal have confirmed today that Jack Wilshere, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Aaron Ramsey, Kieran Gibbs and Carl Jenkinson have all signed new long-term deals with the club.
In the days when we’ve become used to negative press relating to our players and contract ‘sagas’ it’s nice to hear that five of our most promising young internationals have all committed their long-term futures to the club.
An announced on Arsenal.com read:
“Arsenal Football Club is delighted to announce that five of its young internationals have today signed new long-term contracts.
The quintet of Kieran Gibbs (23), Carl Jenkinson (20), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (19), Aaron Ramsey (21) and Jack Wilshere (20), who are all full internationals, and between them have already made more than 350 first-team appearances for the Gunners, have all committed their long-term futures to Arsenal.”
Of course the most exciting signing is that of Jack Wilshere. He’s an outstanding talent and is a future captain of Arsenal. Hopefully he’s put his injury troubles behind him and he looks to be getting back to his best in recent weeks.
Gibbs is another who’s been plagued by injury problems but he’s been present far more this season and although he still has some things to work on, at 23 he has plenty of time to develop into a great full back and thankfully it looks like he’ll be doing it in north London.
I’m also pleased to see Chamberlain and Jenkinson given new deals. They are both developing well. Chamberlain is a raw talent who can go on to become a true great for the club but it’s Jenkinson who’s really improved this season. He was out his depth last year but has proven more than capable in being able to step in for Sagna this season.
Then there is poor old Aaron Ramsey. While i have been a huge fan of the Welshman’s in the past he’s really struggling this season. He seems to be trying a little too hard at times and nothing seems to go right for him. I still believe he should have been sent out on loan when he came back from his leg break to regain his confidence, but he wasn’t and sadly I don’t really see what he’s done to warrant a new contract yet. But Arsene is the boss and he obviously still see’s enough in Rambo to give him a long-term deal.
The boss told Arsenal.com that the five Brit’s are the future of the squad and believes they can achieve things together in the future is they stick together.
“Gibbs, Jenkinson, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ramsey and Wilshere represent a core of the squad and it’s an extension for a long period for all of them. I’m a strong believer in stability and I believe when you have a core of British players, it’s always easier to keep them together and that’s what we’ll try to achieve going forward.”
Let’s hope another England international joins his pals in signing a new deal soon. Sign Da Ting!!
