Manchester United are interested in signing Nodsjaelland centre-back Jores Okore and Celtic goalkeeper Frazer Forester, according to the Mirror.

The report claims that Sir Alex Ferguson has made signing a centre-back his priority when the transfer window re-opens in January due to concerns over the long-term future of Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand.

The Mirror suggest that Okore has become a key target for United after impressing during this season’s champions league campaign with Nodsjaelland, with the 20-year-old Denmark international regarded as one of the most promising young defenders in Europe.

With Jonny Evans recently signing a new long-term contract, and United also having Phil Jones and Chris Smalling on their books already, it’s a bit of a surprise to hear that Ferguson is looking to add another central defender next month.

But with Vidic restricted to just 10 league appearances in 19 months due to two serious knee injuries and Ferdinand yet to sign a new deal – with his current contract expiring in the summer – perhaps Fergie is looking to the future.

Another position the Mirror claim United are considering strengthening in is the goalkeeper department with the paper reporting that Sir Alex is monitoring Celtic’s Frazer Forester after being concerned by the progress of David De Gea and Anders Lindegaard, with neither able to cement their place as No.1 for any length of time.

Forester has been in superb form for the Scottish champions since making his loan move from Newcastle permanent in the summer, with his display against Barcelona in the champions league a particular highlight.

At 6 foot 7 inches, Forester is an imposing presence in-between the sticks and looks to be a real prospect, but we’ll have to wait an see if Fergie decides to make his interest official.

I don’t think we have goalkeeper problem in united. Ferguson is quite aware of what am saying. The inconsistency in our net started the day Ferguson decided to rotate the goalkeepers.a. You & I knew that De Gea is far better than Lindegaad. He need stability to gain confidence. Tell it to Ferguson!!!

I dunno why people are always making snide remarks about Carrick who is one our few best performers, even last season. It’s as if we’re all watching different matches. I don’t see anyone else that can play Carricks role in our team unless they buy someone who’d make an instant impact. We do not need goalkeepers, but a midfielder; say a Strootman.

Certainly not another goal keeper. De Gea is gradually gaining in his abilities. Another center back would be a good addition, but they really need a defensive midfielder more than anything else right now.
Any other moves can wait till the summer.
