Walcott’s Agents Meeting Arsenal Today To Try And Finally Resolve Future
With the January transfer window now open for business we’ll be keeping you up-to-date with all the latest transfer gossip. Today, Theo Walcott’s future could be resolved today.
Theo Walcott’s future could be resolved today with Sky Sports News reporting that his representatives are meeting with Arsenal chiefs today [Wednesday] to try and thrash out a new deal.
Walcott’s future has been under intense scrutiny in recent months after failing to agree a new contract at the club. He is out of contract at the end of the season and the BBC are one of several outlets who claim Chelsea, Man Utd, Liverpool and Man City are all interested in the 23-year-old.
However, Sky Sports are reporting that the former Southampton youngster’s future may be a lot clearer by the end of the day with the players representatives due to meet with Arsenal to try and finally find a resolution.
Walcott is our top-scorer this season with 14 goals and recently said after our 7-3 win over Newcastle that he thought his future would be sorted “very soon”.
“I’m sure that something will be sorted very soon.
“I’ve always said I wanted to stay and I enjoy playing for this team. Now we will just see what happens.
“I will continue to play my football and let the people who look after me and the club talk to each other and go from there.” Walcott is quoted as saying by Sky Sports
I’ve always been confident Theo would sign a new deal with Arsenal. I don’t think his decision is based solely on money, if it was he was almost certainly leave. I think he’s wanting a chance to play through the middle and I don’t think it’s a coincidence we’ve seen boss Arsene Wenger give him that chance in the four games leading up to January.
Hopefully the meeting today will be productive and Theo’s future will be resolved with him signing a new deal at Arsenal. But if things don’t go our way and we fail to agree terms, it’s going to be interesting to see if the likes of Chelsea, United, City and Liverpool make a move for him this month or wait until the summer to sign him on a free.
