Chelsea & Man City Target To Remain In Serie A
With the January transfer window now open for business we’ll be keeping you up-to-date with all the latest transfer gossip. Today, it doesn’t look like Marek Hamsik will be moving to the Premier League.
The Slovakian international has become one of the best play-makers in Italy during recent seasons and has scored 57 goals in 199 league appearances for Napoli since making the move from Brescia in 2007.
talkSPORT claim his form hasn’t gone unnoticed in England with Chelsea and Manchester City said to be interested and the duo are understood to have tried to lure the 25-year-old to the Premier League during recent transfer windows.
However, the players agent, Juraj Venglos, has revealed Hamsik is happy in Naples and could be ready to commit his long-term future to the Serie A outfit.
“The player is happy at the club and in the city. His dream is to play regularly in the Champions League, and with Napoli that is possible.
“We are currently studying the club’s offer and he could stay in Naples for life.
“He could become captain and that would be a privilege, and to leave is not part of his plans.” Venglos is quoted as saying by talkSPORT.
Hamsik has impressed me hugely whenever I’ve seen him, especially during Napoli’s Champions League ties with Chelsea last season, so it’s no surprise the likes of Man City and the Blues themselves are understood to have taken a look at him. But it seems as though the player is ready to commit his future to Napoli and remain in Serie A for the foreseeable future, which is a shame as i’d love to see him come and play in the Premier League some time soon.
