With the January transfer window now open for business we’ll be keeping you up-to-date with all the latest transfer gossip. Today, Spurs are linked with an SPL striker.
Tottenham are lining up a surprise move for Celtic hitman Gary Hooper with Andre Villas-Boas said to be scouting the player on Tuesday night, according to talkSPORT.
The report claims Hooper wants out of Celtic after rejecting the Scottish giants latest offer of a contract extension, with Tottenham understood to have joined Norwich in showing an interest in the striker.
talkSPORT report that the Cannaries have already had two bids turned down for the 24-yar-old and are considering offering Grant Holt as bait to finally land the former Scunthorpe man, but they may now face competition from Spurs with boss AVB understood to be at Celtic Park on Tuesday night to watch the striker against Dundee United.
With Emmanuel Adebayor away at the African Cup of Nations, the north Londoners are looking short up front with Jermain Defoe the only recognised senior striker on the books, so it would be no surprise if AVB tried to bring in another option before the window slams shut at the of the month.

A move for Hooper may raise a few eyebrows but he’s got an excellent strike rate north of the border with 71 in 116 games the SPL champions, so he certainly knows where the goal is. Plus, if he did end up moving south he would be hungry to prove himself to try and earn his first England international call-up, so I would see it as a good piece of business if Spurs end up signing the hitman.

Depending on the price, he could be a good signing. 6-7 million maybe, any more and it would start to become a bit risky, he’d have alot to prove.
This would be a BAD purchase, ‘prolific’ in the SPL is mediocre in the Prem and has been proven over and over again.
As a back-up striker maybe but the Jocks will try and skin us for way over the PREM value.
Steven Flethcher had a mediocre strike rate in the SPL but is prolific in the Premiership
I’ve gotta disagree with THFCarmy – hooper has proved he can get in positions and put the ball in the back of the net – something Adebayor really isn’t doing at present. Is he of the same quality as damio, Negredo or some of the others we’ve been linked with – maybe not be often hunger, desire and passion can outdo talent. Plus is nothing else it would provide a bit of well needed competition for Adebayor upfront and if we can secure Holtby and maybe Belhanda (fingers crossed) you’d have to say we’d be favourites for fourth if not challenging Chelsea for 3rd!!!
Fact – This lad scored more goals in the champions league this year than the whole man city team….this lad scores goals for fun, infact hes just scored another against dundee unt there…Can’t see the lad going to a team that never wins anything, if he goes he will go to a better club than spurs.
More championship goals than Andy caroll in the same season whilst playing for Scunthorpe , premiership is ridiculously overrated with dross like Gary Caldwell jos hooiveld in defences . Derogatory jock like comments are typical , Hooper is class andmuch better than Norwich , Spurs decent team but no trophy career beckons there ,
If AVB thinks he’s good enough, that’ll do me COYS!!!!
please Wenger,we need a defender(mbiwa)prefarably,a strong mid-fielder,maybe lucas biglial or Diamme.and a full striker.world class players that will impress you yourself.pleeaassee.i’m a gunner 4 life
