United To Wrap Up Zaha Deal ‘Within Hours’ After Wenger Rules Out Late Move

By on January 22, 2013

With the January transfer window now open for business we’ll be keeping you up-to-date with all the latest transfer gossip. Today, Man Utd are set to sign Wilfried Zaha.

Wilfred Zaha

Manchester United are expected to wrap up the signing of Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace within the next 12 hours after Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger ruled out making a late move for the player, according to the Daily Mail.

The report claims talks between United and Palace are at an advanced stage and a £12m deal is almost complete, but the Manchester giants are likely to postpone undergoing a medical until the summer as their medical staff are currently out of the country.

The Mail also suggest United will have to perform medical tests at the end of the season anyway as Zaha will be staying in the Championship for the remainder of the season to help with Palace’s promotion push, and the two clubs expect the deal to be finalised by Wednesday morning.

The news comes after Arsenal boss claimed at his press conference on Tuesday morning that he wouldn’t be making any late move for the 20-year-old as he was ‘never in for Zaha’ in the first place.

‘We were never in for Zaha,’

‘I don’t know if he will go to Man United. If he goes to Man United, good luck to him.’

Wenger is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail

Anyone believe him? Nope. Me neither. So with Wenger clearing the way for United, it seems Sir Alex Ferguson is now just a matter of hours from signing another exciting England youngster.

With Zaha understood to be staying with Palace until the end of the season, the winger will link up with his new United team mates in the summer and begin working hard to try and force his way into Fergie’s first team plans. What would the arrival of Zaha mean for Nani’s future at Old Trafford though?

Hes been hot and cold this season but in the Championship that can happen because of physical treatment handed out by good old english style defenders who are clever enough to dish it out when the ref is not looking. Zaha is classy enough to play at the top level so goid luck to him if he does go to Utd.
As for Arsenal- we need 2 signings in key positions. A beast of a midfielder and a goalscorer. We cannot keep waiting for Diaby to stay fit for more than a month so need a proven DM preferanly with EPL experience like Diame. And we cannot also wait for Giroud to settle down, not this season as Gervinho is playing poor and Lukas not quite getting his shooting boots on. Theo against big sides cannot hold the ball enough so hes most effective when a big man holds the ball up, plays it to Santi who can then thread a through pass onto an on rushing Theo. We need a _ _ _ _ _! thats the problem- fellow gooners please fill in the blank coz im
Lost at sea and have no idea who we should get in.
