Some interesting comments from Bacary Sagna today Gooners with the right back casting further doubts over his future at the Emirates after being quoted in the Telegraph as saying it was ‘difficult’ to know whether he’ll leave Arsenal at the end of the season.

Sagna is out of contract in the summer of 2014 meaning he’ll have just one year left at the end of the season. The Telegraph suggest that talks with Arsene Wenger over an extension have been positive but terms over a new deal are yet to be reached.

The newspaper claims the 29-year-old is unhappy at being offered just a one-year extension and has attracted interest from the likes of Paris St Germain and Inter Milan in recent months.

Sagna was asked if he would leave Arsenal at the end of the season and while he said he will continue to give his all for the club while he’s still here and wants to win a trophy with us before he leaves, he refused to commit his future to the club claiming he doesn’t know what will happen.

“Honestly, I’m under contract with Arsenal and I give everything so long as I am under contract with my club. This is a difficult question.

“Before leaving, because I will leave here one day, I would like to win something with my club. I don’t want to answer yes or no now because in football you never know what will happen.”

Sagna is quoted as saying in the Telegraph

Bacary has come under fire from some sections of Arsenal fans after some below par performances this season, but I think he’s been far more solid in recent games and is still a more than useful member of the squad.

His contract situation is one we’ve become used to as Arsenal fans and unless he signs an extension before the end of the season we’re going to have to endure another summer of unrest with one of our first team players being constantly linked with a move.

Personally, I think this will be his last year with us and I’ll be sad to see him go. He’s been one of our most consistent performers over the last few years (when fit) and is one of the more experienced heads in the squad.

Hopefully we can get him tied down to a new deal but unless we offer more than a one-year extension, I can’t see him going for it.
