Manchester United have announced on ManUtd.com that a deal has been agreed to sign Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace, with the winger being loaned back to the Championship side for the rest of the season.

After months of speculation over his future, United confirmed they have finally struck a deal with Palace and personal terms have also been agreed with the player. Zaha will now be in Manchester on Friday to undergo a medical. A statement on United’s official website read:

Manchester United, Crystal Palace and Wilfried Zaha have reached an agreement for the player to join Manchester United in July 2013.

The player is having a medical in Manchester today (Friday 25 January).

Crystal Palace also confirmed the news on their website this morning and claim the deal is expected to be concluded early next week. Once finalised, the 20-year-old will be immediately loaned back to the London club for the remainder of the 2012/13 season.

Zaha told the Crystal Palace official website that he is delighted to be joining United but insists his mind will be firmly focussed on getting Palace back into the Premier League over the new few months.

“I am delighted to be joining Manchester United and ending the recent speculation. I would like to thank the owners at Palace for making the move possible, however my focus for the next five months will be solely at Crystal Palace. I have been at Palace for more than 10 years, I will always love the club and I want to help get them get back to the Premier League, particularly for the fans who have always been so good to me.”

So another excellent signing by Manchester United and as I hoped, he will spend the rest of the season on loan with Palace before linking up with his new team mates in the summer. Zaha is an exceptional talent who will only improve under the stewardship of Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford.
