Forget Wenger’s Comments, David Villa’s ‘Tweet’ Tells Us Why He Wont Be Coming

Arsene Wenger has claimed Barcelona are refusing to sell striker David Villa, but here we look at why the players tweet explains why he wont be moving to London.

With the January transfer window now open for business we’ll be keeping you up-to-date with all the latest transfer gossip. Today, more on the future of David Villa.

David Villa Barcelona

A lot of talk surrounding David Villa again today with many Gooners disheartened by Arsene Wenger’s latest comments regarding our chances of signing the striker.

The boss held his press conference ahead of Wednesday nights game against Liverpool this morning and he was quizzed on his interest in the Barcelona hitman, and predictably Arsene played down reports linking him with a move to the Emirates.

According to ESPN, the boss claimed that he has “enough quality strikers” and that Barca have made it clear they have no intention in selling Villa this month.

“Barcelona do not want to sell David Villa. They’ve have made that very clear.

“You respect the desire that if someone says a player is not for transfer, you expect the other clubs not to try and buy him.

“In January it is very difficult to find a player who can strengthen a team like ours.” Wenger is quoted as saying by ESPN

Arsene was then asked if there was any room for negotiation with the Spaniards over the striker, to which he replied “No”. So many fans are taking the managers comments and completely ruling out the possibility of David Villa signing.

When will people learn? NEVER listen to a word Wenger has to say regarding transfers! He always plays his cards close to his chest and gives nothing away. Did fans really expect him to come out and say ‘yeah, we’ve put a bid in for David Villa, he wants to leave and Barca are willing to negotiate so fingers crossed we can get this one tied up before Thursday’?! It would alert rival clubs and drive the price up. We are never going to learn anything from what Wenger tells the press.

So Arsene’s latest comments change very little for me. BUT, an interesting tweet from David Villa himself this morning has changed things in my opinion and unfortunately I can’t see the 31-year-old moving any time soon after reading it.

Villa took to Twitter on Tuesday morning to announce the arrival of his third child – Luca – on Monday night.

“Last night Luca Villa González was born! Everything went well and the baby and the mother are healthy. Everyone in the family are very happy” Villa tweeted.

Now, would you really expect a father to either leave his new born child and wife to move to a new country or uproot his entire family just days after the birth of his new son? Of course it’s possible, but I feel highly unlikely. Villa will be settled in Spain and surely his desire for first team football can’t be so great that he would unsettle his family at this important time?

Sorry, whatever way you look at it I just can’t see it happening. I have no ‘inside information’ or anything like that, just using common sense. I could be completely wrong but I would be majorly shocked if Villa were to move to Arsenal in the 48 hours after just having another baby.
