The Kenyan powerhouse has been in superb form for the Glasgow giants since making the move from Belgian outfit Beerschot in 2011, with his goal-scoring display against Barcelona a particular highlight.

This has lead to speculation over the midfielders future at Parkhead with Sky Sports claiming Premier League leaders Manchester United are among the clubs linked with a move before the transfer window shuts on Thursday night.

However, Wanyama has played down reports linking him with a late move with the 21-year-old insisting he will remain with Celtic to compete in the latter stages of the Champions League during the second half of the season. However, The Kenyan international did leave the door open to a possible summer move to United by claiming he will consider his future at the end of the season.

Speaking after Celtic’s 4-1 win over Kilmarnock on Wednesday night, Wanyama is quoted as saying by Sky Sports:

“I can confirm to you that I will be at Celtic,”

“We are playing well and our Champions League dream is on right now, so I am looking forward to the big game against Juventus.

“A lot has been said about my intended move but I have not given it much thought and even my manager feels I should play until the end of the season for Celtic.

“Then, from that point, the doors can be open for a move.”

Both foriegn and domestic clubs breathed a sigh of relief when they heard united failed to sign a player they sorely need. Every team they play can continue to believe they can have a real chance at united with their mid to bottom of the league defensive midfield. The league is a longway from certain and Europe just a pipe dream. Cq was definitely the brains behind a lot of uniteds recent success phelan and fergy struggle tactically(just not ferguson strength). Did united need Saha more than a solid midfielder.?? Right now probably not and jan if anything is to strengthen for the run in.

Totally agree, Fergie has been ignoring the obvious deficiency for three years and Phelan remains a ‘yes’ man.
