Despite the transfer window now being closed there will still be plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Man Utd are linked with a Juventus striker.
The agent of Mirko Vucinic claims Premier League giants Manchester United are interested in the Juventus forward, according to the Daily Express.
The Montenegro attacker has been with the Old Lady since joining from Roma in 2011 and has scored 19 goals in 62 appearances for the club so far.
The report claims United are lining up a move for the 29-year-old, despite Sir Alex Ferguson already having an array of attacking talent at his disposal at Old Trafford.
United signed Robin van Perise from Arsenal in the summer and the Dutchman has been an instant hit, scoring 19 goals already in his short time in Manchester. Wayne Rooney remains an integral part of Ferguson’s starting eleven while the Scot also has Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez in reserve, so a move for Vucinic would be something of a surprise.
However Vucinic’s agent, Alessandro Lucci, has claimed that United are showing an interest in his client but has denied speculation suggesting the former Lecce man may be forced out of Juve following the news that Fernando Llorente has agreed to move to Turin in the summer. Lucci is quoted as saying by the Express:
“It is not up to me to say, but United is a club of world level, as well as Juventus. So it is normal that this kind of teams follow Mirko.
“Do we have problems with the arrival of some top players at Juve? Absolutely not, it would only be a good thing for him.
“The coach Antionio Conte considers Vucinic a key player for his way of playing. He scores and creates assist for his team-mates.”

I really can’t see the point in United making a move for Vucinic. He isn’t good enough to displace RVP or Rooney and at 29 he’s coming to the end of his career, so would hold no long-term value.
Personally, I think the players agent may be using United’s name to try and show Juventus that Vucinic is valued by other top clubs as a way to ensure his status in the team for when Llorente arrives in the summer.
