[Teams] Arsenal vs Bayern Munich: Ramsey Starts, Giroud Benched

By on February 19, 2013

Arsenal welcome German giants Bayern Munich to the Emirates tonight for the first leg of our Champions League last 16 clash.

The pressure if on the squad after Saturday’s FA Cup exit and Arsene Wenger has called on his players to respond this evening against a formidable looking Bayern side.

The boss has made several changes to the side that lost to Blackburn with Jack Wilshere, Santi Cazorla, Bacary Sagna, Per Mertesacker and Theo Walcott among the players to return to the starting eleven. It looks like Theo will start up front as Olivier Giroud only makes the bench. Laurent Koscielny has been passed fit to play.

Here are the confirmed teams:

Arsenal Team

Szczęsny, Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Vermaelen, Arteta, Wilshere, Podolski, Ramsey, Santi Cazorla, Walcott.

Subs: Mannone, Jenkinson, Coquelin, Diaby, Rosicky, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Giroud

Bayern Munich Team

Neuer, Lahm, van Buyten, Dante, Alaba, Martinez, Schweinsteiger, Müller, Kroos, Ribery, Mandzukic

Subs: Starke, Robben, Shaqiri, Rafinha, Luiz Gustavo, Gomez, Tymoshchuk

Yeh! Why Ramsey. I really wouldn’t of put that team up but I suppose we’re oing to play very defensive and catch them out on the counter attack.
