Arsenal Plan To Raid Chelsea For Midfield Starlet
Despite the transfer window now being closed there will still be plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Arsenal are linked with Nathaniel Chalobah.
Chalobah came through the Blues academy system after joining the club in 2005 and has been showing some excellent form on loan at Gianfranco Zola’s Watford this season, scoring 4 goals in his 26 appearances so far in the Championship.
The 18-year-old, who can play in central defence or in midfield, is regarded as one of Chelsea’s brightest talents but may find first team football hard to come by at Stamford Bridge in the near future with a whole host of star names currently ahead of him in the pecking order.
The Daily Star claim that Chalobah’s contract is due to expire next summer and Arsenal are ready to try and lure the youngster across London with the promise of being fast-tracked into the first team squad. However, the European champions will do all they can to try and hang on to one of their hottest prospects and keep him from the Gunners clutches.
Chalobah’s form at Watford has seen him break into the England Under-21 set up after making over 50 appearances for England at various youth levels, and he was named as England’s Youth Player of the Year at the FA Awards a couple of weeks ago.
He certainly has a bright future ahead of him and it would represent something of a coup if Arsenal managed to snatch him from their London rivals, but understandably Chelsea won’t be letting him go without a fight.
