Arsenal & Man Utd Told It Will Take £35m To Land Striker

Galatasaray president Unal Aysal has claimed reported Arsenal and Manchester United target Burak Yilmaz is worth a staggering £35m, according to the Express.

Despite the transfer window now being closed there will still be plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Galatasaray demand £35m for Arsenal and Man Utd target Burak Yilmaz.

Burak Yilmaz

Galatasaray president Unal Aysal has claimed reported Arsenal and Manchester United target Burak Yilmaz is worth a staggering £35m, according to the Express.

The Turkish international has been a huge hit since moving to the Turk Telekom Arena from Trabzonspor last summer and has scored 21 goals in just 26 games to help propel Galatasaray to the top of the Turkish Super Lig where they currently hold a five-point lead over second-placed Besiktas.

His form hasn’t gone unnoticed in England with the Express claiming both Arsenal and Manchester United are showing an interest, but the Premier League duo may be put off making a move in the summer after hearing Gala’s valuation of the striker.

President Aysal claims the club are yet to receive any concrete offers for the 27-year-old but suggests that if Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao is worth £48m then Yilmaz is worth £35m. He said:

“We have not received any offers for Burak Yilmaz, but, of course, [the speculation] will mount as the end of the season nears closer.

“Burak is a very valuable star for us. If, however, we are talking about Falcao being worth €55 million [£48m], then my player is €40m [£35m].” Aysal is quoted as saying in the Express

While Olivier Giroud has been a useful addition to the squad, Arsenal look in desperate need of more firepower and boss Arsene Wenger must surely be on the look-out for a striker in the summer and Yilmaz appeared keen on a move to the Emirates in January when he said:

“If I were to move abroad I would want to move to a big club. I would accept a transfer to Arsenal.” Yilmaz is quoted as saying by the Express

However, it’s difficult to see the Gunners splashing out around £35m for a 27-year-old who’s unproven outside of Turkey and they are even less likely to do so if they miss out on Champions League football next season.

United could perhaps afford the striker but does Sir Alex Ferguson really need him? He already has Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck at his disposal so it would be a strange move if Fergie was to spend big-money on another front-man this summer.
