Kieran Gibbs Injury Update…

Some good news on the injury front today Gooners with the Daily Mail reporting that defender Kieran Gibbs is set to return to full training and may even be fit to face Bayern Munich next week.

Gibbsy has been on the sidelines since picking up a thigh injury during the 2-2 draw with Liverpool at the Emirates at the end of January but it appears the defender is set to return to full training and has an outside chance of playing in the Champions League second leg against Munich next Wednesday.

If not, he should be in contention to face Swansea City on the 16th, but either way it’s good to have Gibbs back as I think we’ve missed him in recent weeks. He was arguably in the best form of his career when he picked up the injury and his attacking threat down the left has been sorely missed.

However, it will be interesting to see how Arsene Wenger lines-up now he has his two left-backs fit. Nacho Monreal has enjoyed a steady start to life at the Emirates since making his deadline day move so will Gibbs be able to force his way back in? Some fans have suggested moving Gibbs forward to play on the left wing ahead of Monreal and this could certainly be an option, particularly for tough away games.

But we’ll have to see what the boss decides. Monreal is ineligible to play in Europe so it would be great to have Gibbs back for the second leg, even if it’s practically a dead rubber, but the Swansea game may be the match Wenger has a decision to make over who’s his first choice left-back.

Who would you pick as left-back, Gibbs or Monreal? Get involved in the comments section below.

I prefer Kieram Gibbs 2 play left back along wt podoski dan Monreal. Gibbs gave us the attacking treat nd pace. D absent of Kieram Gibbs has cost arsenal alot, i mean alot.

I think d Refree dnt have to go that far, because Nani did not did it intentionally he intend to control d ball sudenly Arbeloa came on expected so Nani did’nt see him coming so that should b a yellow card offence.but never d less it was a fantastic game at old trafford.

No surprise that since Gibbs’ injury things haven’t gone as smoothly as hoped. He can’t be sole reason but the form he was in and the threat he and Podolski was on that left was working well. Gibbs constantly up and down gave Podolski little more time to move slightly closer to the striker, and for whatever reason around the same time Gibbs got injured, Wenger has turned Podolski on the bench more.
Gibbs has been missed, the option with Monreal can work like you mentioned in tough away games but Gibbs remains number 1 LB for me.

I prefer Gibbs to that of Monreal, and the red card given to Nani wasn’t fear enough left to me, though i’m an Arsenal fan, i thought that should be a yellow offence

D red card to nani is not debatale, it is a straight RED card, no two ways about it. U reap what ever you sow. Were they playing well b4 d red card, NO. As for gibbs and monreal, i choose gibbs ahead of monreal, because of his pace and d ability to return when he lose d ball upfront
