France International Aly Cissokho has welcomed reports linking him with a move to Liverpool calling the Anfield outfit a ‘great club’, according to Sky Sports News.

The 25-year-old left-back only joined Valencia from Lyon last summer and has made 20 appearances in all competitions for the La Liga side so far this season.

Sky Sports claim Liverpool were interested in signing Cissikho last summer before he moved to Spain and the Reds are understood to have retained their interest ahead of a potential bid at the end of the season.

The player has now responded to these reports and reiterated his desire to move to the Premier League and says it’s ‘pleasing’ to be linked with a great club such as Liverpool.

“I’ve never hidden the fact that the English league is the one that attracts me the most. It’s pleasing to see my name linked with Liverpool,”

“They’re a great club, and not just anyone can wear that shirt. But it is still just an article in a newspaper.” Cissokho is quoted as saying by Sky Sports

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has limited options at left back with right-sided defender Glen Johnson often forced to fill in for regular first choice left-back Jose Enrique if the Spaniard is unavailable, so it may be no surprise if they bring in another option in the summer.

But will they follow up their reported interest in Cissokho? We’ll have to wait and see but the player certainly seems keen on a move to Anfield.

We have plenty of young talent and cover for the FB positions. What we need instead is two CBs and at least one more proven and quality attacker.

Liverpool need more fast, powerful players with strong characters. A holding midfield like that is needed too.

The best thing from sacking of KK & appointment of BR is, we are looking for skilled players from mainland Europe & Latin America, rather than over paying Brits.

Aly ‘ll be a fantastic buy (subject to his fitness report). Both Aly & Jose ‘ll keep each other honest & chasing for the next 5 years.
