Toffees Set To Cash In On Duo: Fellaini To Chelsea, Baines To Man Utd?
Despite the transfer window being closed there is still plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Everton are going to sell Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines.
Everton are ready to sell Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines this summer with Chelsea and Manchester United tipped as potential destinations, according to the Metro.
The report, which is claimed to be an ‘Exclusive’, suggests that the Toffees are finally ready to cash in on their prized assets in a bid to generate transfer funds to finance a squad overhaul at the end of the season following the Merseysiders late season collapse in form.
After a promising start to the season that saw Everton challenging for a top-four place, David Moyes team have fallen away in recent weeks and are now sitting in seventh place in the Premier League table while they were also knocked out of the FA Cup to Wigan last Saturday.
Belgian midfielder Fellaini was jeered by some sections of the Everton faithful after he was substituted following a lackluster performance during that 3-0 loss at Goodison Park last weekend and he subsequently cancelled a planned autograph signing session.
The Metro claim Everton will sell the 25-year-old this summer with European champions Chelsea expected to come in with a serious offer while Baines is also expected to be sacrificed and long-term admirers Manchester United are said to be preparing a bid for the left-back at the end of the season.
While the duo’s departure’s will be a major blow and leave huge gaps to fill, the Metro suggest their sales could provide manager Moyes with more than £40m to spend on restructuring his squad with this summer.
