By on March 16, 2013

Liverpool’s hopes of a top-four finish took a huge hit as they fell to a 3-1 defeat away to Southampton at St Mary’s on Saturday afternoon.

The home side raced into a 2-0 lead thanks to an early Schneiderlin strike that was followed by a deflected free kick from Lambert. Coutinho got one back just before the break when he slammed home a loose ball in the area to make it 2-1 at half time, but the Saints restored their 2-goal advantage when Rodriguez slotted home at the second attempt to make it 3-1.
