Arsenal have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Barcelona attacker Alexis Sanchez after the Chilean ruled out a move away from the Nou Camp this summer, according to Sky Sports News.

Sanchez moved to Barcelona in the summer of 2011 from Udinese and enjoyed an excellent first season in Spain, scoring 12 goals in 25 league appearances. However, he’s failed to maintain that form this year managing just 2 league goals so far, and he’s struggled to force his way into the starting eleven in recent months leading to question marks over his future at the Nou Camp.

Sky Sports claim Arsenal have been strongly linked with a move for the exciting attacker while Juventus and Inter Milan are also understood to be keeping a close eye on his situation.

But the 24-year-old has responded to reports linking him with a move to the Emirates and claims he’s happy at Barca and is confident he’s still one of the best players in the world despite his disappointing form this season.

“I’m very happy at Barcelona, I feel important for my club and for my country.

“I know what type of player I am, I know that I am a great player, I know that I can win games. I remain one of the best in the world even if I don’t score.

“I am not a player who will score three or five goals per game.

“I give passes, and also score sometimes. I am not really a penalty box goalscorer, but I know I am still one of the best players in the world.” Sanchez is quoted as saying by Sky Sports

Sanchez would be a great signing for Arsenal in my opinion but it seems he’s not looking to leave the Nou Camp any time soon, unless he’s forced out the club. His talent isn’t in question but when you play for a team like Barca who have an abundance of attacking options, any slight dip in form is going to result in time on the bench and that’s been the case for the Chilean. I’m sure he’ll be back to his best soon but unfortunately it doesn’t look like he’ll be doing it in the famour Red & White next season.
