Arsenal & Tottenham Fans React On Twitter To Gareth Bale Injury

Tottenham attacker Gareth Bale picked up a nasty ankle injury during Thursday’s draw with Basel. Here we look at how Arsenal and Spurs fans reacted on Twitter.

As we enter the business end of the season, Tottenham fans worst nightmare unravelled before their eyes on Thursday night as Gareth Bale was stretchered from the field in the dying second’s of their 2-2 draw with Basel at White Hart Lane.

The Welshman has been in stunning form for the majority of the season and with Spurs fighting rivals Arsenal and Chelsea for a top-four finish in the Premiership and looking to reach the semi-final’s of the Europa League, the last thing Andre Villas-Boas needed was his star man picking up an untimely injury.

As Bale went down clutching his ankle last night, Tottenham fans took to Twitter to understandably vent their frustration with some fearing the worst. Here’s a few ‘Tweets’ from Spurs fans:

However, while most neutrals and some Arsenal fans wished Bale a speedy recovery, there were some Gooners who couldn’t hide their delight that their fierce rivals season had taken a turn for the worse.

There was even the predictable ‘Monkey’ joke doing the rounds, with this picture posted on Twitter with the caption: “Spurs fans look on as Gareth Bale is stretchered from the pitch”

Bale is expected to have a scan on the injury on Friday but AVB was hopeful after the game that the problem won’t be as bad as first feared and even claimed the winger could be back to face Man City next weekend. I’m sure Tottenham fans would be delighted if that turns out to be the case. Arsenal fans….not so much!
