Tottenham have received a huge injury boost this afternoon after scan results showed Gareth Bale will be back in training inside two weeks.

The Welshman was forced off on a stretched in the final seconds of Thursday nights 2-2 draw with Basel in the Europa League after twisting his ankle and initial fears were that he wouldn’t play again this season.

However, a statement on TottenhamHotspur.com claims Bale has undergone a scan on Friday and is expected to return to training within 14 days.

Spurs were also sweating on the scan results of two other players who picked up injuries last night, with winger Aaron Lennon and defender William Gallas both having to come off with knee and calf injuries. However, there is positive news on the pair as well with the club confirming they too will be back training inside two weeks.

Here is what the statement said on the clubs official website:

“The Club can confirm that Gareth Bale (sprained ankle ligaments), William Gallas (calf strain) and Aaron Lennon (soft tissue contusion below the knee) all underwent scans today (Friday) after being forced off with injuries during our Europa League Quarter Final First Leg draw with Basel last night.

The results of these scans have indicated that all three players are expected to return to training within two weeks.

Bale, Gallas and Lennon have all commenced their treatment today and are responding positively.”

The news will come as a huge relief to boss Andre Villas-Boas as losing Bale would have been a massive blow to the clubs hopes of finishing in the top four this season. While it is still a disappointment that he’ll miss the Everton game, as well as next weeks second leg with Basel, it seems like the winger may be fit to face Man City on the 21st April.
