By on April 9, 2013

Despite the transfer window being closed there is still plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Arsenal risk losing out on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Arsenal risk losing out on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as Inter Milan are understood to be locked in talks with Saint-Etienne over a potential move to Italy this summer, according to talkSPORT.

Aubameyang has emerged as one of the most talented forward’s in Ligue 1 over the past 2 years after netting an impressive 33 goals in 65 league appearances for Saint-Etienne.

It seems his form hasn’t gone unnoticed here in England with talkSPORT claiming that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has identified the 23-year-old as a summer transfer target as he looks to bolster our attacking options ahead of next season.

However, is appears Inter Milan may have stolen a march on us as the report claims the Italian outfit are deep in talks with Saint-Etienne over taking Aubameyang to Serie A this summer and while their opening bid of €10m was rejected, it’s understood they are confident of agreeing a deal.

I’ve seen a fair bit of Aubameyang this season and he’s certainly a huge talent. He’s doing the business in Ligue 1 and while we’ve seen plenty of players come from France and fail to live up to their reputations, I think the Gabon international has what it takes to succeed in England.

But it looks like we’re going to have a fight on our hands if we’re going to bring him to the Emirates this summer. If we miss out, I’d like to see the boss make a serious move for either Robert Lewandowski or Stefan Jovetic.
