United Confident Of Landing £35m Falcao Ahead Of Chelsea But Rooney Could Be Sold

Despite the transfer window being closed there is still plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Man Utd are confident of landing Radamel Falcao but Wayne Rooney could be on his way out of Old Trafford.

Colombia Radamel Falcao

Manchester United are confident of beating Chelsea to the signing of Radamel Falcao this summer but Wayne Rooney could be sold to make room for the Atletico Madrid hitman, according to the Mirror.

The report claims the run-away league leaders are already in preliminary talks with Atletico over the signing of Falcao and are quietly confident they will be able beat long-term admirers Chelsea to his signature and seal a deal worth in the region of £35m, despite the fact the 27-year-old’s buy-out clause is nearer £50m.

The newspaper suggests the basis of United’s confidence stems from their close relationship with Falcao’s agent, Jorge Mendes, who’s other clients include Anderson, Nani and Cristiano Ronaldo, and Sir Alex Ferguson is understood to be keen to use their close ties with the agent to ensure the prolific forward picks Old Trafford over their rivals.

However, Falcao’s arrival at Old Trafford could spell the end for Wayne Rooney with the Mirror claiming Ferguson will be open to offers for the 27-year-old this summer with the United boss understood to be keen to offload his £250,000-a-week wages with UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules in mind, and PSG may be willing to pay around £30m for his services.

Falcoa’s stock has risen considerably during his time in Spain where he’s scored 64 goals in just 83 games since making the move from Porto in 2011, and has forged a reputation as one of the most deadly hitmen in Europe.

Fergie is making a mistake, Rooney is by far better than van persie. Rooney contribute more, persie only stays in front. With due respect to persie, he’s a great player. If united wins d league, they’ve van persie to thank. I strongly think what united needs are quality midfielders, not striker. Fergie wants to kick Rooney out cos of his fat pay. And that’s y he brought van persie as his replacement cos of the feud they had some 2 years ago. I’m a Chelsea fan and I’ll be happy if united can produce a quality team that will compete well against the big guns like barca, Madrid, dortmund, bayern and juventus. It will make people respect epl

I am a chelsea fan it won’t be a sad story if falcao joins utd, but it will be sad to me if chelsea fails to sign rooney up if utd wants him out, Wayne is a natural born struggler he fight for his club, country and most of all he is a legend
