Arsenal Dealt Blow In Gotze Pursuit But Play-Maker Eyes Future Move To Man Utd

Arsenal have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Mario Gotze but the Borussia Dortmund ace has admitted he could be tempted by a switch to Man Utd in the future

Despite the transfer window being closed there is still plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Arsenal dealt Gotze blow as German eyes potential future move to Man Utd.

Mario Gotze

Arsenal have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Mario Gotze after his agent confirmed he won’t be leaving Borussia Dortmund this summer but the play-maker has admitted he could be tempted by a switch to Manchester United at some point in the future, according to the Daily Mail.

The report claims Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has made Gotze his No.1 transfer target and is planning on triggering the 20-year-old’s £31.5m release clause this summer.

While his club would have no choice but to accept the offer it seems the player has no intention of leaving the Westfalenstadion this summer with his agent, Volker Struth, revealing that the highly-rated midfielder will remain with Dortmund for at least another season:

‘Mario has not even thought about leaving Dortmund in 2013. He is totally not interested in that and will stay at least another season.’ Volker is quoted as saying by the Mail

However, in a further blow to Arsenal it appears that when Gotze does eventually leave Germany his preferred Premier League team would be Manchester United with the German international revealing that a move to Old Trafford may be appealing at some point in the future:

‘I am very happy at Dortmund and satisfied with the way we are progressing as a team. Any thoughts about playing for another team are very much for the future, but Real Madrid, Barcelona or Manchester United could be interesting.’ Gotze is quoted as saying by the Mail

The Mail claims United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is a huge admirer of Gotze’s so a potential move to Old Trafford could be on the cards in the future and they’d be getting one hell of a player if the champions-elect do manage to lure him to England at some point.

Gotze has emerged as one of the most talented attacking midfielders in Europe in recent seasons and has help guide Dortmund to successive Bundesliga titles in 2011 and 2012 as well as play a key role in them reaching the semi-final’s of the Champions League this season, so would no doubt be a huge asset to Sir Alex Ferguson’s squad.
