Tottenham and Chelsea could miss out on the signing of Joao Moutinho with mega-rich PSG and Monaco entering the chase for the Porto play-maker, according to the Express.

The 26-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to Tottenham at the end of the season where he would link up with former manager Andre Villas-Boas at White Hart Lane after the Portuguese boss narrowly missed out on his signature last summer.

The Express claim Chelsea are also interested in luring the talented attacker to the Premier League but the London duo now face stiff competition from the continent for his signature.

The report suggests that mega-rich Monaco are now leading the chase with Russian owner Dmitry Rybolovlev ready to break the bank for the Porto midfielder, while Paris Saint-German are also understood to be keen on taking Moutinho to France this summer.

The newspaper claims that Porto are ready to cash-in on Moutinho at the end of the season and would be willing to do business at around £20m for their star man, and it seems there is no shortage of interest in his services.

Chelsea should be confident of going head-to-head with the wealthy French clubs but with Juan Mata, Oscar and Eden Hazard already on the books at Stamford Bridge you’d have to question whether they really needed another silky play-maker in their squad.

Spurs on the other hand are crying out for more attacking options but may find themselves priced out of a move should the likes of Monaco and PSG follow up their reported interest.
