Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have been dealt a major blow in their pursuit of Christian Eriksen after the play-maker revealed his preferred Premier League destination would be Manchester City when he leaves Ajax this summer, according to the Express.

The 21-year-old Danish attacker has just one year left to run on his current contract at Ajax and the report claims the Dutch outfit will cash-in this summer after Eriksen made it clear he won’t be signing an extension.

Eriksen has emerged as one of the most sought-after young attackers in Europe after breaking into the Ajax first team in January 2010, and has gone on to score 22 goals and provide 39 assists in his 105 league appearances so far.

It seems his impressive form hasn’t gone unnoticed here in England with the Express claiming the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester City are keen on signing him this summer.

However, Spurs and Liverpool have now been dealt a blow after the player revealed that his preferred Premier League club would be Manchester City, while a potential move to PSG would also appeal to the young Dane.

“I’d like to play for a club like Manchester City or PSG,”

“For me it is important that I have a good feeling at the club.

“I should be able to play football and then I could develop. I will be a better football player.” Eriksen is quoted as saying by the Express

It’s interesting to hear the player suggesting he’d be open to a move to Man City then say he would want the chance to play regular football and develop his game. While there is no doubt he would progress at City, surely there must be question marks over the amount of first team football he’d get considering the amount of attacking talent at Roberto Manicni’s disposal?

The likes of Samir Nasri, Scott Sinclair and Edin Dzeko regularly find themselves on the substitutes bench with David Silva, Carlos Tevez and Sergio Aguero occupying the attacking berths at the Etihad Stadium on a regular basis, so where would Eriksen fit in if he end’s up making the move to City?

If it’s money and trophies he wants then City is no doubt the better choice, but if it’s first team football he’s after I’d suggest he’s better off going to Spurs or Liverpool, but we’ll have to see what happens in the summer.
