Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao has dismissed reports suggesting he’s close to joining Premier League leaders Manchester United, according to the Metro.

The 27-year-old has become one of the most sought-after strikers in the world since joining Atletico from Porto in 2011, scoring 66 goals in 84 games so far to help the Spaniards lift the Europa League last year and push Real Madrid for 2nd place in La Liga this season.

Reports last week suggested that United were on the verge of landing the highly-rated Colombian hitman and were even said to have put down a ‘deposit’ to guaranteed his signature at the end of the season.

However, the player has responded to these reports and confirmed that he knows nothing about the rumours linking him with a move to Old Trafford and insists he’s only focussed on Atletico Madrid.

‘In recent weeks I have tried to isolate myself and not think about my future,’

‘I don’t know where that information has come from about me joining Manchester United. That’s part of the press – I’m only focused on Atletico Madrid.’ Falcao is  quoted as saying by the Metro.

Falcao’s comments will be well received in west London with the Metro claiming the striker is one of Chelsea’s top targets this summer and the newspaper believes that the Blues are in fact the front runners for his signature.

The report claims that Atletico boss Diego Simone is interested in Chelsea forward Fernando Torres and suggests a swap deal could be on the cards, with the Spaniard’s understood to want in the region of £50m for Falcao’s services.

Did anyone really expect Falcao to reply “yes I am breaking the news that I will be joing Man Utd on 1st July.” Whoever expected him to say that is a mug!

I don’t see Man united signing Falcao next season with the like of RVP,Rooney, welbeck, chicharito and Potential Lewandoski all fighting for the starting line up. Also wilfred Zaha joining next season i think the attacking positions are occupied.
