Arsenal Transfer News: David Villa & Cesc Fabregas

Barcelona-Cesc-Fabregas

Despite the transfer window being closed there is still plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, has David Villa missed his chance to join Arsenal and could Cesc Fabregas make a dramatic return to the Emirates?

Villa missed the boat?

First up and the Mirror are claiming that Barcelona striker David Villa will look for a move away from the Nou Camp this summer in order to boost his World Cup hopes but he may have missed his chance to seal a move to Arsenal.

Villa has struggled to cement himself in the Catalans starting eleven this season and is eager to secure more first team football next season ahead of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The report suggests we were interested in signing the 31-year-old during the January transfer window but Barca refused to let him leave and it’s now claimed that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has ended his interest in Villa and turned his attention to Fiorentina’s Stevan Jovetic – who’s almost eight years youngster than the Spaniard.

Fabregas return?

Next and the Daily Star are reporting that Arsenal have been put on red alert with Barcelona willing to consider selling midfielder Cesc Fabregas this summer to raise funds for a rebuilding job at the Nou Camp.

Cesc left north London in 2011 to return ‘home’ but hasn’t been able to cement himself as a first team regular and has found himself on the bench for many of the crunch games this season, including his sides Champions League first leg defeat to Bayern Munich last week.

A Barca source is quoted as saying that the club will consider any offer made for the 25-year-old this summer:

”If an important offer for Cesc arrives we will study the situation.” A Barca source told the Star

The report claims Fabregas wants to remain with his boyhood club but may be tempted by the prospect of a return to Arsenal where he would command a first team place which would boost his chances of breaking into the Spain side at the World Cup next year.

The Star also suggests Fabregas has been looking into the possibility of bringing up his newly born daughter in England, while he also recently offered to pay £5.4m to buy his girlfriend’s stake in a London flat owned by her former husband, further fuelling rumours he could be set for a dramatic return to the Emirates.

There have always been reports suggesting we have first option to buy him back and I honestly don’t think he’d ever go and play for the likes of Chelsea or Man City, so I think we’d be well-placed if if Barca ever decide to sell and Fabs wants to come back to the Premiership. Will it happen? I’m not convinced, but the idea of Fabregas returning to play alongside the likes of Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla is a mouth-watering prospect.

Imagine a midfield of wilshire fabregas cazorla playing behind jovetic with arteta and ramsey in the anchor roles. Walcott chamberlain podolski behind giroud with coquelin and capoue or wanyama.

ok this is my take on it…cesc stayed loved by the fans because he said he was leaving to return ‘home’.If he ever pulled on the shirt of another epl team then he is same as rvp/nasri…time will tell.oh and just one more point, no captains armband and defending is mandatory this time around. If he could bring Inesta back in his suitcase too that would be a nice little peace offering.

How much longer will Xavi play? He is what 31 or 32? Cesc would move into the first team at Barca then won’t he? Would he come only to go back when Xavi leaves?

there is no substance to this story just a mere rumour to stir up our ever dream team that this present arsenal board would not bring to reality

Whilst Villa and Fabregas along with Wilshere and Carzola would form the nucleus of a championship winning side I can`t see Wenger sharing the same dream as the fans. On paper it seems very attractive but when you look a little deeper things may not be so rosey. For example Cesc has an emotional off field problem to be resolved that could and probably would affect his professional performance as a footballer, this could be the reason for benching him at Barca.
Villa is 31 years old and set in Barca ways unlike Rosicky who is the same age but set in Arsenal`s ways. Were he younger then it might be a different story, but he`s not.
These are just my thoughts and I could be way off the mark but I don`t see either coming to Emirates.

it will be very welcomed news and a boost for Arsenal. But I don’t see it happening because Wenger is a stupid couch these days. He does not feel for the fans and the players he is just there to make money for now. Is unfortunate is not easy to support Arsenal. Lets pray that God will change their mind in that board. We don’t talk freely when others are talking in public because of the character of the board of Arsenal. God will touch their heart. Up gunners.
