Chelsea welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night for a crucial clash that could well shape how the top-four shapes up this season.

The Blues are in pole position to not only qualify for the Champions League next season but also finish third in the Premier League table after Sunday’s 1-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford with the west Londoners now holding a one point lead over fourth-placed Arsenal and a three point lead over fifth-placed Tottenham, although the Gunners have played a game more.

Ahead of the game interim boss Rafa Benitez has given ChelseaFC.com a team news and injury update with the latest on Eden Hazard, John Obi Mikel, Oriol Romeu and Ryan Betrand’s fitness.

The good news is that Hazard is fit to play after missing the game against United with a calf problem that was picked up against Basel last week. The Belgian attacker is now back in training and in contention to play on Wednesday.

There is also some positive news on Oriol Romeu with Benitez confirming that the midfielder is on the verge of returning to action. Romeu suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament injury during the early stages of the season but is now back in training and in the managers thoughts.

However, Mikel and Bertrand, who also missed the win over United on Sunday, remain on the sidelines. Here’s what Benitez told the clubs official website:

‘Hazard was training in a normal training session. He is fine, he is in the squad,’

‘Mikel is not available, he is still in some pain. Bertrand is not available with a problem with his knee, nothing serious.

‘Oriol Romeu could be available if I ask him because he is training really well. He is pushing in every training session. He is training so well we are considering playing him.’

The Spaniard is expected to once again rotate his squad with the likes of Fernando Torres, John Terry and Gary Cahill pushing for recalls.
