Bookmakers are so confident Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Julio Cesar will join Arsenal this summer that many have stopped taking bets on a move happening.

With the summer transfer window set to open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Bookmakers are so confident Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Julio Cesar will join Arsenal this summer that many have stopped taking bets, according to the Daily Star.

The Brazilian is on big money at Loftus Road and manager Harry Redknapp has stated that he’s keen to cut the wage bill to give himself the best chance of building a side that’s capable of gaining promotion back to the Premier League next season so a move this summer seems likely.

The Star newspaper are now claiming that Arsenal is almost certainly Cesar’s next destination with bookies like Unibet no longer taking bets on the 33-year-old moving to the Emirates Stadium this summer while other bookmakers like BetVictor currently offer odds of just 1/33 of a move happening. For those of you who like a flutter, that’s what can be described as a ‘done-deal’.

The former Inter Milan stopper is currently away on international duty and the report quotes him as saying this week that he “wants to stay in England” because he is “enjoying London and the Premier League”, and they expect him to complete his switch across the capital when his commitments with Brazil are over.

Cesar moved to QPR on a free transfer from Milan last summer but despite putting in some impressive displays, including a MOTM performance during a tight 1-0 win for Arsenal at the Emirates back in October, he was unable to prevent the west Londoners from dropping down to the Championship.

With Vito Mannone and Lukasz Fabianski likely to leave this summer a new goalkeeper is a must and one with the experience that Cesar could offer would be ideal as he’d be able to nurture the raw talent of Wojciech Szczesny – who was dropped from the starting eleven back in March following some unconvincing displays.

Personally, I’d love to see Cesar join Arsenal as I think he’d be an astute buy who wouldn’t harm the career of Szczesny – who I still believe is our long-term No.1 – and it seems the move is going to happen, the bookies rarely get it wrong after all…
