Transfer News: Tottenham Table Bid For Spaniard | Liverpool Eye French Defender
With the summer transfer window set to open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Tottenham have made a move for a Spanish left-back while Liverpool are interested in Mamadou Sakho.
Spurs make de la Bella move
First up and the Mirror are reporting that Tottenham are looking to strengthen their defence this summer and have tabled an opening offer of £3m for Real Sociedad defender Alberto de la Bella.
Boss Andre Villas-Boas has apparently identified the left-back spot as an area of concern and has made his move for de la Bella after the 27-year-old enjoyed a superb season in La Liga last campaign, helping Sociedad to a surprise fourth placed finish.
The Mirror claim Spurs submitted a £3m bid which was immediately rejected by the Spanish outfit, but the north Londoners are expected to go back in with an improved offer soon. Sociedad have a potential Champions League run to look forward to next season if they can safely navigate the qualifying round and with the player contracted until 2015, they are under no pressure to sell, so Tottenham may have their work cut out persuading them into a sale.
Liverpool eye Sakho
Next up and the Express are reporting that Liverpool have turned their attention to PSG centre-back Mamadou Sakho after failing to agree a deal to sign Tiago Ilori.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is expected to further strengthen his defence following the retirement of Jamie Carragher – despite the signing of Kolo Toure – as the futures of Martin Skrtel and Sebastian Coates remain up in the air.
Sakho struggled to hold down a first team spot at PSG last season and the Express claim he’s stalling on signing a new contract which has alerted Liverpool after they failed to strike a deal with Sporting Lisbon for highly-rated defender Tiago Llori.
So there’s another dose of transfer news. Do Tottenham fans think the club need to sign a new left back? Would Liverpool supporters like to see Sakho come to the club? Get involved in the comments section below.
