Arsenal are expected to complete the signature of Gonzalo Higuain early this week while the club will also resume talks with Julio Cesar’s representatives now the Confederations Cup is over, according to the Guardian.

Our move for Higuain has been moving at a snails paces over the past couple of weeks with the deal reported to be ‘imminent’ for what feels like forever. But the Guardian claim that a £22m move will finally be concluded ‘over the next few days’ after new Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti sanctioned the hitman’s sale.

I’m still not letting myself get too excited about the arrival of the Argentinean until it’s officially announced on Arsenal.com as anything can still happen, but the signs are looking encouraging that we’ll have ourselves a new record signing soon.

Higuain could be joined at the Emirates by Julio Cesar with the newspaper suggesting we’ll resume talks with the goalkeeper now his international commitments are over. Cesar started for Brazil during a comfortable 3-0 win over Spain in the final on Sunday night to cap whats been an impressive tournament for the 33-year-old.

The report claims Arsene Wenger is keen to bring him to north London as competition to Wojceich Szczesny and we could land him for just £1.5m, with QPR understood to be desperate to get his £70,000-a-week wages off the books at Loftus Road.

Roma and Fiorentina are also interested but Cesar is believed to favour a move to Arsenal as he want’s to remain in London where his family is settled. I think he’d be a superb signing and if we can get him for just £1.5m, it’s a no-brainer, so let’s hope we can get this one over the line soon as well.

The double signing of Higuain and Cesar would be an excellent start to our summer transfer business, let’s hope we see them both on Arsenal.com holding the Arsenal jersey this week.
