Colombian Starlet Set For Arsenal Trial Ahead Of Potential Permanent Move

By on July 9, 2013

With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Sebastian Perez is set for a trial at Arsenal.

Atletic Nacional midfielder Sebastian Perez is to have a one-week trial with Arsenal in August ahead of a potential permanent switch to the Emirates, according to the Metro.

The 20-year-old is highly-rated in his homeland and the report claims Arsene Wenger had scouts run-the-rule over the defensive midfielder at this summers Under-20 World Cup in Turkey.

Although the Colombians made an early exit from the tournament, it appears the Arsenal scouts were suitably impressed with what they’d seen in Perez as he’s now been invited to spend a week on trial at the Emirates with a view to making the move permanent if all goes to plan.

The Metro claim that Atletico Nacional’s president Juan Carlos de la Cuesta confirmed the trial to Colombian media yesterday, while local journalist @JeraldineFranco also confirmed the news on Twitter.

The report suggests that Arsenal are keen to secure a permanent transfer if he impresses on his trial, but Nacional may demand up to £5m for the starlet’s signature with both Juventus and PSG also linked.

Perez is still a raw talent and would be of no use to the first team for the forseable future as he’s almost certain to have work permit issues if we do push for a permanent deal. While I’m all for planning for the future and bringing in youngsters with potential, I’d like to think the club would be better off utalising it’s resources to try and bring in some big-name signings ahead of more unproven kids.

So after closing in on him for four weeks, “Gozalo Hiuain” has finally arrived for a “medical” at Arsenal! And more seriously, what will it take for Wenga and Gazeedees to ever shape-up? I am nauseated by the chilling talk that an “impotent” Magager – Wenga is sheduled for a new contract at Arsenal! I hope Wenga, Gazeedees & Co are not doing narcotics! How many times do they expect an increasingly ambitious Spurs to “gift them” the EPL fourth position which they are so obsessed about? What a gang – of leeches!!
