Man Utd’s £17m Move For Alcantara Set To Be Hijacked?

By on July 9, 2013

With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, could Bayern Munich hijack Man Utd’s move for Thiago Alcantara?

Bayern Munich could be set to hijack Manchester United’s move for Barcelona midfielder Thiago Alcantara, according to the Daily Star.

The 22-year-old starlet has been widely tipped to leave the Nou Camp this summer after struggling to force his way into Tito Vilanova’s starting eleven on a regular basis with the likes of Xavi, Andres Iniesta and Cesc Fabregas all ahead of him in the pecking order.

Alcantara has emerged as one of Europe’s hottest properties after playing a starring role for Spain during this summers European Under-21 Championship triumph, with the Star claiming the likes of Manchester United and Bayern Munich have been keen on luring him away from Spain this summer.

David Moyes’ men appeared to be the favourites to land the exciting playmaker, with widespread reports in recent days suggesting Old Trafford was likely to be the midfielders next destination and a £17m move was expected to be concluded within a matter of days.

However, the Star are now citing reports emanating from Spain that suggest European Champions Bayern Munich are ready to hijack the deal with new manager Pep Guardiola understood to be keen on taking the youngster to the Allianz Arena.

The idea of working with former boss Guardiola in Germany is sure to be a tempting prospect for the Spanish international and it’s also claimed in the report that Barcelona haven’t given up trying to persuade him to stay and will hold final talks when he returns to pre-season training later this week.

So it looks as though United still have a few hurdles to overcome before they get their hands on one of the most highly-rated midfielders in Europe.

David Moyes and the management of Man Utd should move quickly to get this dragging Alcantara deal done if the team is to make a meaningful impact next season

To my understanding, this is new policy by united management. Keep on dragging what they will not buy. Look at how we missed players just because of delay, the likes of: Ronaldinho,Essien,Schneider,Moura to mention a few…, all cross our track just like that. Well we are looking forward for changes from that angle. UP UNITED!.

David Moyes is an idiot and a joke of a manager. If Mourinho had got the United job Thiago would have been signed. All we are hearing from Moyes is the same old dribble day in, day out that we are working hard behind the scenes to improve the squad. Enough of the bull and just pay the £15 Million to get Thiago as action always speaks louder that the words that are coming out of your mouth.

This is the best opportunity for united to bring in a midfielder who can manage that center for the club since we missed out on some good players some past seasons ago.Moyes is a good manager bt he should do this to please the fans so that we can always trust and support him in everything he do for the club.Up Thiago! Up united! Love y’all!

I dont want united to sign thiago, simply because he doesnt want to play for united
    1. He will do a fabregas and will ask for a return when xavi will retire in 2-3 yrs
    2. He has not indicated his interest yet, which isnt hard given united can meet his price easily

United should go for strootman, ilkay, Guarin, Lamela, sharawwy, illaramendi, bender bros.

If they want to stay put in the ultra elite of bayern, barca nd real they should bring in bale…no question about that.

Ballondor contenders ? All 3 giants have loaded with new talents: neymar, gotze and real will eventually land bale….what will united do ? They have to bring in a world class talent sharawwy ?

forget him bring in the dortmand midfielder and bale. its not down to moyes. its the people we have in place so conclude deals. this has been happening way before moyes got here. somebody needs the sack and its not moyes im talking about!

I don’t think we guna buy anybody. we just keep spending money and the owners keep getting rich!!!!!!!!!!!

its frustrating, to see how aggresive other big clubs are in signing players but manchester united always have an excuse for delays in signings. I hope moyes realises that and makes offers thiago was suppose to be at manchester pre season !!!!!!!
