Fabregas Considering His Future As Arsenal Prepare To Activate £25m Buy-Back Clause

Arsenal are ready to exercise a £25million buy-back clause to bring former captain Cesc Fabregas back to north London this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Arsenal are ready to bring Cesc Fabregas back to London.

Barcelona-Cesc-Fabregas

Arsenal are ready to exercise a £25m buy-back clause to bring former captain Cesc Fabregas back to north London this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The Spanish midfielder is currently away on holiday resting after participating in Spain’s Confederations Cup campaign and the report claims he’s considering his future after another frustrating season at the Nou Camp, with the Gunners poised to launch a sensational move to lure him back to the Emirates.

Fabregas has struggled to establish himself as a regular first team player at Barca since returning to Spain two years ago. Tito Vilanova often leaves him out of key games and even when he does play, he’s often used as a make-shift front man and not in his favoured central midfield position.

Now, with an important pre-World Cup season approaching, it seems the 26-year-old is contemplating leaving his boyhood club in search of regular game time as he tries to force his way past club mates Xavi and Iniesta into the Spanish starting eleven.

The Mail claim Arsenal have first option to re-sign Fabregas and could snap him up for just £25m due to a clause they inserted in to his contract when he was sold back to Barca in 2011, and Wenger is now ready to exercise that buy-back clause if Fabregas makes it clear he wants out of the Nou Camp.

The newspaper suggest the Gunners have asked to be kept up-to-date of the players situation and will be ready to complete a sensational move if their given the slightest indication they could re-sign their former skipper.

If this report is accurate and Fabregas is considering his future, then I can only see him leaving Barcelona for one club: Arsenal. But it will be a huge decision if he does decide to leave the Spanish champions and one of the best teams in the world.

He made such a fuss about going back ‘home’, I just can’t see him giving it all up after two years. It must be frustrating for him to not be the ‘main man’ he was at Arsenal, but he must have known this was going to be the case before he left.  If he really wants game-time in midfield before the World Cup, then perhaps a season-long loan to Arsenal could work? He could then re-evaluated things next summer.

While I’d love Cesc to return, I personally can’t see it happening but stranger things have happened in football.
