Christian Benteke Aston-Villa

With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest Tottenham transfer rumours. Today, Christian Benteke wants his move to Spurs tied up this week while winger Nacer Chadli is keen to join the north Londoners this summer.

Benteke wants move this week

First up and the Mirror are reporting that Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke wants his proposed move to Tottenham tied up as soon as possible so he doesn’t have to go back to pre-season training at Villa Park on Thursday.

Benteke is looking to leave Villa after handing in a transfer request last Monday and the report claims he’s got his heart set on a move to White Hart Lane after being promised regular first team football by boss Andre Villas-Boas.

The 22-year-old bagged 23 goals in his debut season in England following a move from Genk 12 months ago and he’s mindful of keeping his place in the Belgian squad ahead of next summers World Cup.

The striker is due back at Villa on Thursday for pre-season training but the Mirror suggest he’s urging Spurs to get a deal sealed soon so he doesn’t have to face an awkward reunion with Paul Lambert and the rest of the Villa squad.

The newspaper claims Daniel Levy is set to open the bidding at £20m but Randy Lerner will hold out for nearer £25m, and there’s believed to be a £60,000-a-week contract waiting for him in north London if the two clubs can agree a fee.

Chadli wants Spurs

Sticking with the Mirror, they are also reporting that winger Nacer Chadli is keen on a move to Spurs but the north Londoners are yet to make an official bid and face stiff competition from Swansea City and Shakhtar Donetsk.

The Belgian international has just one year left to run on his current contract at FC Twente but the reports claims the Dutch outfit are demanding a fee in the region of £7.5m for his services.

Spurs have been strongly linked in recent weeks and the Mirror claim the 22-year-old would favour a move to White Hart Lane this summer. However, Twente Chairman Jens Munsterman has confirmed the only offers that have come in so far are from Swansea and Shakhtar.

“We hear a lot about Tottenham but the club will have to put up a concrete offer first.

“So far, only Swansea and Shakhtar have made concrete offers and are still options, even though Nacer decided not to go to them.

“We hope for some clarity this week.”

Should Chadli end up moving to Spurs he’ll link up with fellow Belgian team mates Mousa Dembele, Jan Vertonghen and possibly even Christian Benteke as well.

Here are 2 very good players who have expressed there wishes to join Tottenham and we have not even put in an offer for either player. Benteke is a striker that we need, He has premier league experience scoring 23 goals and Chadli plays mainly on the left wing but can play anywhere across the front he’s strong skilful and scores as much goals that many strikers will be happy with, I dont understand why we are playing hard to get. If Benteke goes to Chelsea and Chadli goes to Swansea we will be sorry, just blame Mr tight fist Levy.

I agree with Frankie warrior, we should take these 2 players! It gives us more options up front and means that Bale could play on the wing or behind a striker! Come on Levy!
