Wenger ‘Confident’ Bargain £25m Fabregas Will Choose Arsenal Over Man Utd

By on July 26, 2013

With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, more on the future of Cesc Fabregas.

Barcelona-Cesc-Fabregas

Arsenal are ready to go head-to-head with Manchester United for the signature of Cesc Fabregas with boss Arsene Wenger said to be confident the midfielder would opt to return to the Emirates should he decide to leave Barcelona, according to reports today.

The 26-year-old has been strongly linked with a return to the Premier League just two years after leaving Arsenal to return to Barcelona. The Spanish international’s time at the Nou Camp hasn’t going according to plan as he’s struggled to establish himself as an important first team player and when he does play, he’s often played out of position.

Manchester United have made Fabregas their No.1 target and have already had two bids turned down with boss David Moyes declaring on Thursday that the champions pursuit of the midfielder was still “ongoing”. However, the Daily Mail claim that Arsenal are also keen on luring him back to England and boss Arsene Wenger is believed to be confident his former skipper would choose a return to north London over a switch to Old Trafford if he decides he wants a move.

Wenger confirmed last week that Arsenal have have a clause in Fabregas’s contract and hinted the north Londoners would be interested if he was available, but the Frenchman claimed he’s been told the midfielder has decided to remain at the Nou Camp for one more year.

‘We have the clause in the contract so we would be on alert. At the moment, Fabregas has decided to stay one more year at Barcelona.

‘Unless he has changed his mind, I don’t know but that’s what I’ve been told.’Wenger is quoted as saying in the Daily Mail.

The newspaper suggests the clause allows Arsenal, and only Arsenal, to buy Fabregas back at a cut-price £25m if Barcelona accept an offer from another club. So theoretically, Barca could accept a £50m bid from United but would be forced to sell him for just £25m to Arsenal if Fabregas elected to return to the Emirates.

However, any move this summer looks highly unlikely, despite Arsenal and United’s interest. Several Barcelona players have claimed Fabregas has confirmed to them he’s definitely staying at the Nou Camp,  while Barcelona vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu also reiterated the clubs stance today, insisting that Fabregas would not be sold this summer, telling reporters:

“United’s interest for Cesc Fabregas is obvious, he’s a great player but it does not bother us.

“It does not matter what they offer us, we are not selling him.”

“If there was a higher offer would we accept it? No. We’re proud that a club like that wants one of our players,” Bartomeu is quoted as saying by the BBC

So, it looks like Arsenal would be ready to battle United should Fabregas come on the market but unless something drastic happens over the next few weeks, they wont be getting their hands on him this summer. Barcelona officials, Arsene Wenger and his current team mates all claim he’ll stay.

However, intriguingly, amid all the speculation, Fabregas himself is yet to come out and commit to Barca and the players silence is still leaving some questioning whether he’s still contemplating his future.

Man U wants the service of Fabregas, he will condem arsenal of not achieveing anything but see the way to ask for the player, please develop kid players and equally sell them out. Rumour mongers has formed another joker by saying Fab wants united move.

One thing everyone is forgetting, a lot of players and maybe cesc would have been tempted by the chance to play under and learn from auld blue nose but he’s gone and moyes has done nothing in his career only keep everton upper mid table. He simply has no pulling power until he earns it. For my part I’d love to see cesc come home to arsenal but I’m also looking forward to seeing if moyes can manage at this level. I’m also interested to see if the special one will be a success this time around and if Brendan rogers will be found out as the decent championship manager I believe him to be. The only thing I’m not looking forward to is transfer deadline day and once again no signings from the gooners. I can feel it in my waters, I cam just hear wenger saying we tried to sign world class players etc. I find it difficult to believe we wouldn’t shell out 30 mil for higuin but we re gonna spend 40 or 50 mil on Suarez. It feels like a load of bids we were fairly sure wouldn’t be accepted were made to placate us the fans. I hope I’m wrong, I hope watching managers fail or succeed is only a side show for me to our challenging for titles with some new players in toe but as ive said i fear it’s not to be.

Muggy Gooner. Wak up and look at what’s happening around you. We r the mighty Gooners we want to sign big and now we have the money we will will sign big. It is not Wenger who decides what we can and can’t spend, it is the board whon implement their long term business strategy both for shareholder profits nd the long term sustainability of the club on the football pitch. Wenger was merely the spokesman, the face who took all the blame for lack of expenditure (an inferred lack of ambition), he is now reaping the rewards for managing to keep pur team within the top 4 and elite of Europe with zero net spend He is great and ye who have little faith are merely suckers who believe the media an fall to their wims. Well done you gillible lot but believe it or not Arsenal are here an mean business

J, I think you’re wrong. Wenger and the club, as they have done for several years now, only make noises about big purchases to move the season tickets.
This year, until this last week, there were still season tickets available.
With Wenger’s latest “we are not close ” you can bet the last ones are sold and he’s now going to show his middle finger to the fans again.
There never was any intention of buying a star striker, otherwise they would have bought Higuain, but he went to Napoli before all the tickets were sold, so they plugged the Saurez farce instead, which will now disappear off the radar.
There will be no exciting purchases this season. I’d love to be wrong, but Wenger and his board have shown their dishonesty over and over again.
The only time any significant purchases are made is if we sell one or more stars, and we don’t have any of those available, so it’s empty packets I’m afraid.

in ma opinion, fab will remain in barca this coming season. but if he is to make a move, he will join arsenal where he calls the second home and wenger the second father. for man u, he only have a friend(r.v.p).
