Tottenham recorded their first Champions League win with a 4-1 victory over FC Twente at White Hart Lane. Van der Vaart had the chance to open the scoring after Peter Crouch won a penalty but the Dutchman saw his spot-kick well saved. However, he made emends just after the break firing home a lose ball from inside the area to give Spurs a 1-0 lead.

Pavlyuchenko then showed Van der Vaart how it’s done from 12 yards, Cooley slotting home to double Tottenham’s lead. Twente made it 2-1 within 6 minutes through a Chadi strike before Van der Vaart was sent off for two bookable offences. Pavlyuchenko made it 3-1 from the penalty spot once more and Gareth Bale finished off the scoring just before full-time as Spurs recorded an impressive 4-1 victory over the Dutch champions. Watch all the action below.

Match goals:

Van der Vaart 1-0

Pavlyuchenko 2-0

Chadi 2-1

Pavlyuchenko 3-1
