Man utd Nani

With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Tottenham are linked with a move for Javier Pastore while Man Utd have offered Nani to Monaco.

Spurs eye Pastore

First up and the Metro are reporting that Tottenham have identified Javier Pastore as a potential replacement for Gareth Bale if he ends up making a big-money move to Real Madrid this summer.

The Welshman has been heavily tipped to make a switch to the Bernabeu in recent days and it seems Andre Villas-Boas is already planning for life without his talisman, with Pastore firmly on his radar.

The Metro claim that Spurs have short-listed the Paris St Germain playmaker as the man who could fill the creative void should bale depart, and the 24-year-old could be available after struggling to replicate the kind of form that earned him a £34m move to France two years ago.

The Argentinean international is certainly a huge talent but his inconsistent form has seen his place in the PSG starting eleven come under threat and it seems AVB could be ready to offer him a fresh start in the Premier League if a certain Welshman leaves White Hart Lane in the coming weeks.

United offer Nani to Monaco

Next up and Sky Sports News are carrying quotes from Monaco sporting director Vadim Vasilyev who claims Manchester United have offered the Ligue 1 outfit the chance to sign Nani this summer.

The Portugal international’s future at Old Trafford has come under intense scrutiny after a hugely disappointing campaign last season that saw him make just 10Premier League  appearances.

The arrival of David Moyes has done nothing to dampen speculation that Nani is heading for the exit door and with just one year left on his contract at United, it seems they’ve been offering him around to potential suitors this summer with Monaco supremo Vasilyev revealing the 26-year-old has been offered to them, but no formal talks have taken place so far.

“He has been proposed to us. He is a very good player, but there have been no talks so far.

“We have already changed our group quite a bit and we also want to offer opportunities to our young players.

“We still have time to make a few alterations before the end of the transfer window, if needed.” Vasilyev is quoted as saying by Sky Sports

Claudio Ranieri’s men have already splashed the cash on several big names this summer including the likes of Radamel Falcao, James Rodriguez, Joao Moutinho, Eric Abidal and Jeremy Toulalan, and we could be adding Nani’s name to that list soon if the big-spending Ligue 1 club decide to pursue a move.

My humble opinion is that Spurs should cash in on Bale for 100 million pounds. Should this sort of bid come in then I think Levy ought to accept and wish Bale everything of the best. Pastore would be a very good signing although he does seem to have gone off the boil in recent times. I would much rather take Fabio Coentrao, Angel di Maria and about 65 million pounds in cash in exchange for Bale (provding off course that the two players in question are happy to be coming to White Hart Lane. With Soldado hopefully destined to come in as our main striker soonest, I would then begin culling the squad by selling the likes of Defoe, Huddlestone, Livermore, Assou-Ekkotto, Adebayor & Gomes. Thus, my squad would then be : Lloris/Friedel, Walker/Naughton, Kaboul/Dawson, Vertonghen/Caulker, Coentrao/Rose, Sandro/Parker, Lennon/Paulinho, Dembele/Sigurdson, Holtby/Pastore, Chadli/Townsend, Soldado. I would also then bring in two more players, namely Toby Alderweireld from Ajax and possibly Remy from QPR or Dembe Ba from Chelsea to finally gather what would be a really good squad to challenge for top honours.

Sorry – forgot to mention di Maria in this squad if he does come in as part of the Bale deal.

Monaco are not “giants” it takes more than just money to class a club as ‘giants’, they have to be successful first, just like man City aren’t ‘giants’ either
