Chelsea will refuse to entertain offers for David Luiz amid reports suggesting Bayern Munich were lining up a £34.5m bid for the Brazilian defender, according to the Telegraph.

Luiz’s future at Stamford Bridge has surprisingly come under scrutiny following the arrival of Jose Mourinho this summer and reports have recently linked him with a move to Spanish giants Barcelona.

Speculation circulated on Monday that Bayern Munich were lining up a huge offer for the 26-year-old after new boss Pep Guardiola had identified him as the man to play alongside international team-mate Dante at the heart of his defence.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, Jose Mourinho has insisted Luiz wasn’t for sale throughout the summer and the Telegraph claim Chelsea will not entertain any offers that may come in for the player.

Luiz has become a real fan-favourite since he arrived from Benfica in January 2011 and the newspaper suggests he’s not agitating for a move, so it looks like he will be staying at Stamford Bridge for the foreseeable future.

The Brazilian international returned to pre-season training on Monday after being given an extended break following his participation in the Confederations Cup and he’s due to fly out with the rest of the squad for Chelsea’s pre-season tour of America on Tuesday evening.
