Man Utd Set To Table Record £35m Fabregas Bid

Manchester United are ready to a record £35m offer for Cesc Fabregas despite Barcelona’s insistence the midfielder is not for sale at any price this summer.

With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Manchester United are ready to increase their offer for Cesc Fabregas.

Barcelona-Cesc-Fabregas

Manchester United are ready to a record £35m offer for Cesc Fabregas despite Barcelona’s insistence the midfielder is not for sale at any price this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

Fabregas has been strongly linked with a return to the Premier League just two years after leaving Arsenal with his time at the Nou Camp not going according to plan as he’s struggled to establish himself as an important first team player and when he does play, he’s often played out of position.

United have already have already had two bids turned down with boss David Moyes declaring last Thursday that the champions pursuit of the midfielder was still “ongoing”, while Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed the north Londoners have a buy-back clause in the players contract and are “on alert” should he become available.

Barcelona vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu insisted last week that they will not sell Fabregas at any price, despite the interest from United.

“United’s interest for Cesc Fabregas is obvious, he’s a great player but it does not bother us.

“It does not matter what they offer us, we are not selling him.” Bartomeu is quoted as saying by the BBC.

However, the Mail are reporting today that United have not given up hope of luring the 26-year-old to Old Trafford this summer and believe that Barcelona would be willing to do business if they receive an offer to good to turn down.

The newspaper claims that United are now ready to submit a third and final £35m bid that would also include various add ons, which if successful, would smash the clubs current transfer record – the £30.75m Sir Alex Ferguson paid Tottenham for Dimitar Berbatov in 2008.

Moyes appears determined to bring some creativity to his midfield this summer but I’m still not convinced he’s going to be able to land Fabregas, even for £35m. The player doesn’t appear to be agitating for a move and even if Barca do decide to cash in, Arsenal should still be in pole position due to the players affinity with the club and the fact they have a buy-back clause.

So it’s likely that Moyes is going to have to turn to other targets, and reports recently have suggested he may be lining up a bid for Real Madrid’s Luka Modric should he admit defeat in his pursuit of Fabregas.
