Transfer News: Liverpool Agree Defender Deal | Chelsea Could Miss Out On Wonderkid

Latest transfer rumours. Today, Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign a new left-back and Chelsea could miss out on the signing of Portuguese wonderkid Bruma.

With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Liverpool agree a deal to sign a new left-back and Chelsea could miss out on a Portuguese wonderkid.

Liverpool agree Melgarejo deal

First the Express are reporting that Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Benfica defender Lorenzo Melgarejo on a season long loan deal with a view to a permanent £8.5m transfer.

News of Brendan Rodgers interest in Melgarejo emerged earlier in the week as he looked to bolster his options at left-back ahead of the new season, and now it seems the Reds boss has managed to secure a deal.

The newspaper claims the 22-year-old will make the move to Anfield on a temporary basis with Liverpool having the option to make it permanent next summer for a fee of £8.5m if things work out well.

However, the move is still subject to a work permit being granted and the player may have trouble securing one given the fact he’s only got 1 senior cap for Paraguay, but if he does make the switch to Merseyside he’ll provide stiff competition to Jose Enrique for a starting spot at left-back.

Chelsea face fight for Bruma

Next and the Express again are reporting that Chelsea face a fight to land highly-rated Sporting Lisbon winger Bruma with French giants Paris Saint-Germain entering the chase.

The newspaper claims the Blues saw an £8m bid for the Portuguese youngster rejected earlier int he summer but Jose Mourinho’s remains interested in bringing him to Stamford Bridge.

However, the Europa League winners chances of signing the talented 18-year-old could be scuppered by big-spending PSG, who’re are also understood to be monitoring the players situation and could launch a bid of their own in the coming weeks.

The report suggests that Bruma is ready to leave Benfica after failing to agree terms over a new deal but Chelsea could also face stiff competition from Man City, Galatasaray and Napoli for the exciting wingers signature.
