Transfer News: Chelsea Braced For Striker Raid | Man Utd Tipped To Make £26m Bid

Latest transfer rumours. Today, Valencia are lining up a move for Fernando Torres while Manchester United are tipped to make a £26m move for Claudio Marchisio.

With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Valencia are lining up a move for Fernando Torres while Manchester United are tipped to make a £26m move for Claudio Marchisio.

Valencia eye Torres

First up and the Express are reporting that Valencia have identified Chelsea striker Fernando Torres as a potential replacement for Roberto Soldado.

The newspaper claims Soldado is set to complete a £26m move to Tottenham in the coming days and the Spanish outfit have been drawing up a list of suitable replacements which is believed to include Torres along with Javier Hernandez and Olivier Giroud.

Chelsea have been strongly linked with a move for Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney this summer and his arrival could see Torres out in the cold at Stamford Bridge next season. The Express suggest Valencia have already made initial contact with the Blues over the strikers availability and indicated they would be willing to pay a fee in excess of £25m for his services.

It remains to be seen whether Chelsea will be prepared to sanction the players sale but with the World Cup next summer, Torres may be open to a move in search of regular first team football should Rooney end up making the move to west London.

Man Utd to launch £26m bid

Next up and the Express again are reporting that Manchester United are set to table a £26m bid for Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio after seemingly missing out on top target Cesc Fabregas.

United have already seen two bids for the former Arsenal skipper turned down by Barcelona this summer and it remains to be seen whether they’ll go back in with a third offer after the Catalans made it clear they were not interested in selling.

It seems David Moyes is now ready to turn his attention to other targets with the Express claiming the champions have identified Luka Modric, Yahan Cabaye and Marchisio as potential midfield signings.

A move for the Italian ace appears to be on the cards with the newspaper suggesting United are ready to test Juve’s resolve with a £26m bid, but the Serie A champions are expected to do all they can to hang on to the midfielder with director general Beppe Marotta recently saying the player was not for sale this summer.
