Agent: Arsenal & Liverpool Want €24m Winger
With the summer transfer window in full swing, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Arsenal and Liverpool are linked with Arda Turan.
The agent of Atletico Madrid winger Arda Turan claims that Arsenal and Liverpool are among the clubs interested in signing the €24m-rated player this summer, according to the Express.
The Turkish attacker has been in excellent form in La Liga, scoring 5 goals and proving 6 assists in 32 games last season, and it seems his impressive form has lead to interest from England.
The 26-year-old’s agent, Ahmet Bulut, claims that Arsenal and Liverpool have made enquiries over the winger this summer and although no firm bids have been submitted as yet, Turan would be open to a switch to the Premier League if the opportunity arose.
Bulut also revealed that Atletico are not interested in selling the player but would have no choice but to let him discuss a potential move if a club met his €24m buy-out clause.
‘The club does not want to sell Arda. However, if we were to get an offer equal to his €24m buy-out clause Atletico should listen to such a proposal.
‘Arsenal and Liverpool? A destination in the Premier League would be to the liking of the player and I can confirm there are clubs interested, like the two mentioned.
‘At the moment there are no concrete offers, only enquiries.’ Bulut is quoted as saying in the Express.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger had endured a hugely frustrating summer that’s seen him spend none of the clubs reported ‘warchest’ so far, but he hinted on Tuesday that he’s gearing up for a busy final few days in the transfer window so a move for Turan isn’t out of the question – particularly after Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was ruled out for between 6-12 weeks.
Brendan Rodgers looks set to miss out on attacker Willian – who’s expected to join Spurs – so the Liverpool boss may now turn his attention to Turan as he looks to add a big-name signing to his squad before the window closes in 10 days time.
