Arsenal Line-Up £46m Benzema Bid As Madrid Eye Suarez As Replacement
With the summer transfer window in full swing, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Arsenal ready to launch record Benzema move.
Arsenal are ready to make a £46m bid for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema with the Spaniard’s eyeing Liverpool’s Luis Suarez as a replacement, according to the Guardian.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has been frustrated in his attempts to bring in a marquee striker this summer but the report claims he has now made a formal enquiry for the France international and made it clear he’s considering making a £46m bid.
Benzema is understood to be unsettled at the Bernabeu as he’s been jeered by sections of the Madrid support in recent games and also towards the end of last season. There were reports yesterday that suggested Madrid were willing to cash in on the 25-year-old as they wanted funds to pursue a move for Suarez, who remains unsettled at Anfield.
Brendan Rodgers admitted on Thursday that he was expecting a late bid from Madrid for the Uruguayan but insists it’s too late in the window to consider selling as Liverpool don’t have enough time to find a suitable replacement.
Whether they would be able to resist if the Spanish giants were to come in and table a £45m+ bid remains to be seen. Rodgers is desperate to bring in further reinforcements but requires funds to do so, and he could certainly do with the money generated from the sale of Suarez – who’s made no secret of his desire to leave Merseyside in search of Champions League football.
It’s a hugely complex operation that could see Arsenal buy Benzema and fund Real’s move for Suarez – who was previously a key target for the Gunners. Much could depend on Madrid president Florentino Perez – who remains a huge fan of Benzema’s – and whether he’s willing to sell or not.
One things for sure, clubs better get a move on if they want to try and get these big-money deals done as time is running out fast. Only 10 days to go……
