Transfer News: Chelsea Eye German Starlet | Man Utd Scouting Austrian Defender

Latest transfer news. Today, Chelsea are ready to make their move for a German youngster and Manchester United are scouting a £6m-rated Austrian defender.

Despite the summer transfer window being closed there is still plenty of gossip in the newspapers, so we’ll keep you up to date on all the latest transfer news. Today, Chelsea are ready to make their move for a German youngster and Manchester United are scouting an Austrian defender.

Chelsea eye German starlet

First up and the Daily Mail are reporting that Chelsea are readying a move for highly-rated German starlet Julian Brandt.

The report claims the Blues are keen to strengthen their youth set up and have sent scouts to keep a close eye on Wolfsburg winger Brandt in recent weeks.

The 17-year-old is tipped as a future star in Germany and has already represented his country at various youth levels, but is yet to make a real breakthrough into the Wolfsburg first team set up and has been turning out for the Under-19’s so far this season.

The Mail suggest that Chelsea regard Brandt as an exceptional talent and are ready to made a move for the left winger when the January window re-opens. Jose Mourinho currently has a wealth of attacking talent at his disposal and the majority are all under the age of 25 so have their best years ahead of them, so Brandt may have his work cut out at trying to force his way into the Blues first team if he does make the move to Stamford Bridge any time soon.

United eye Austrian defender

Next up and talkSPORT are reporting that Manchester United are keeping a close eye on Red Bull Salzburg defender Martin Hinteregger ahead of a potential move this winter.

While the transfer window slammed shut earlier this month, talkSPORT claim the champions are still working hard behind the scenes to identify new recruits and Moyes is believed to have sent scouts to run-the-rule over the Salzburg defender.

Hinteregger has been hugely impressive for his club and has earned himself a call-up to the senior Austrian squad, although he’s yet to earn his first cap, and the report suggests Salzburg will demand a fee in the region of £6m for the centre-back.

Boss David Moyes endured a frustrating summer that saw him only bring in one major signing in Marouane Fellaini and the Scot indicated he is drawing up plans for the long-term at Old Trafford. Could 21-year-old Hinteregger one of his main targets? We’ll have to wait and see but with Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic both coming to the final years of their illustrious careers, there’s going to be big shoes to fill at the heart of United’s defence and the young Austrian could be just the man to fill them.
