Preferred Arsenal Line-Up To Play Swansea – Agree With The Surprise Inclusion?

Arsenal get back to Premier League action when they take on Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday night.

We currently sit top of the table heading into this weekends round of fixtures and we continued our excellent recent run with a hard fought victory over West Brom in the League Cup on Wednesday night.

Due to the current lengthy injury list, Arsene Wenger was forced to play a weakened line-up for the game but it gave many of the first team a well deserved rest.

The likes of Jack Wilshere, Bacary Sagna, Aaron Ramsey, Olivier Giroud, Mesut Ozil, Wojciech Szczesny, Kieran Gibbs and Laurent Koscielny were left at home and they can all expect to be recalled for this weekends trip to Wales.

Mikel Arteta made a successful comeback on Wednesday, making his first start of the season, but he was withdrawn late on with cramp and I don’t expect he’ll start again this weekend. The team practicaly picks itself these days but the one area of contention is who fills in for Theo Walcott while he’s out injured.

Serge Gnabry started against Stoke on Sunday and did OK, but I was a little disappointed with him against West Brom. He’s also played a lot of minutes over the past 4 days so I’d like to see us do something different and start Carl Jenkinson on the right wing this Saturday.

He was excellent against the Baggies and was our main attacking threat, despite playing at right-back. We all know Jenks loves to get forward and he’s got an excellent delivery on him, so I could see him being a real threat when given more freedom further up the field. He’d also provide that extra defensive support to Sagna which will be important, especially away from home.

So I’d like to see this eleven play:

What do you think of the team? Would you start Jenkinson on the right? Share your views below.

They should play a 4-4-1-1 v Swansea jacky on the left arteta and flamini in the middle with Rambo on the right and ozil playing behind giroud

Jenkinson up forward at right wing? You must be joking!

Jenkinson doesn’t have the foot-speed or guile to scare any decent Premier League-quality left back in terms of getting behind or around him. And, the next time that Jenkinson puts an aerial cross accurately on the head of an Arsenal player in the box in front of goal will be the first time that he will have done so.

If given plenty of time and space, Jenkinson can occasionally whip in a low cross into the box, but his signature–read as “one and only”–offensive move is, when inevitably cut off by the opposing left back, to look to pass the ball to the midfielder to his left at the top of the box. That’s the only thing that Jenkinson can consistently do from an offensive perspective. Now, I’ll admit that it did result in Ramsey’s goal last week, but generally speaking opposing clubs in the PL don’t usually leave that midfielder wide open to take a shot when they receive such a pass.

I’d much rather play Sagna up front and let Jenkinson play right back than play them the way that you suggest. Sagna would be far more threatening and better able to protect Jenkinson than vice versa.

Jenks can really cross the ball. He doesnt pin point crosses but instead plays them into an open area for forwards to attack. Its a shame only Giroud tends to go for these.

We´d be better off shifting Wilshere to the other side and and playing Monreal at LB and Gibbs doing a Santos impression.

Jenks Wide right, Nop I don’t think he do d job but smwhr along d 2nd half he can……… So if Arteta is Ok I think he should stand alongside Flamini the Rams, Ozil n Wilshere should b behind Giroud

Jenks played 120 mins v West Brom and am worried that both he and Per will not have enough recovery time before going to Swansea. Mertesacker obviously has to play but I’m not sure it’s a great move to use Jenkinson, especially playing him out of position in a physically demanding role.

Using Jenkison up atcthe right I dnt think is a right decision, if Arteta is ok let him start along side Flamini while Ramsy at the right and willshare at the left, Ozil behind Giroud.

    4-2-3-1
That is the formation that will help tomorrow with the Back 4 already solidified from last game. Then Flamini and Arteta sitting the 3 attacking midfielders able to float around and interchange in the attacking roles. And Giroud as the target man.

This will give us defensive solidity and bit going forward too

The three floaters are Wilshere, Ozil & Ramsey. The benefit of this formation is that Both Ramsey & Wilshere can also help with defensive duties if we are under pressure

The best formation is 4-2-3-1. That is having Flamin,Arteta(2) in holding role nd shielding the back 4 from Michu & friendz,Ozil,Wilshere nd Rambo(3) nd lastly Giloud. Thankz.

I go with your selection, except for the left flank where i will rather play Wilshere, then play Ryo Miyaichi on the right.

Arteta only came off for cramp on Wednesday so I can see him starting given that Ramsey and Flamini are both doubtful for tomorrow.

Whats the point in playing Jenkinson there when his first thought is to play the ball backwards. I wouldn’t even include him in the squad.

i would b proud to see this formation adopted in tommorow’s game. flamini with man arteta then ramsy, jacky n ozil and giroud upfront.with this, swansea cannot match us. very best goonners!

I appreciate that you are exploring possibilities, but you a’re suggesting a backward move. Could cost us the game.

A wicked suggestion, and one that has crossed my deranged mind!Jenks is the sort of player with awesome power and energy-too much to be confined at RB.Give him a go-could save us 86 mill.
